About This Experience
In October 2018, Candock Argentina had the opportunity to participate in the third edition of the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. These Olympic Games allow rising star athletes to compete against other delegations before they reach adulthood.
The Candock Argentina team and the technical supervisor from the Candock head office got to work and developed various platforms that would allow different sport events to be held. Our Argentinian distributor provided platforms for rowing, canoe and kayak race start. Our range of low-profile cubes adapted for rowing were used to build launching docks that allowed athletes and coaches to be practically at level with the crafts. For the canoe launching docks, temporary installations permitted the positioning of facilities at strategic points on the Rio de la Plata, where existing docks did not allow access.
The triathlon event also presented an interesting challenge as the start line was uneven due to the landscape relief. The goal was to have all triathletes start at the same time on a straight line, which was not possible on the shores of the Lago de Regatas.
In fact, the platform which crossed the lake allowed fair and safe race starts for all athletes who were participating in the Triathlon event.

Candock is committed to its engagement with communities. As our distributors are all over the world, the Youth Olympic Games were a great way to get involved in an event bringing together young athletes from various countries while promoting sports and highlighting the determination of athletes. Such a gathering, which promotes international contact for a fleeting moment, means a lot to us as we wish to have a positive influence in the countries where we distribute our products. We were happy to give our support to the promising athletes of the Olympic sports community while helping to improve the temporary sports facilities. All that in a spirit of respect for the environment through the design of platforms that could be dismantled and reused for other ends while protecting water quality.
